ALOPECIA AREATA

Have you heard of ALOPECIA AREATA? Well, let me take you on a ride on what it is all about.

Alopecia Areata is a disorder that often results in unpredictable hair loss. In majority of cases, hair falls out in small patches.

Sometimes, it can lead to complete loss of hair on the scalp or, in extreme cases, the entire body and the condition can affect anyone regardless of age or gender. Interestingly, it occurs in animals too.

FACTS ABOUT ALOPECIA AREATA

- One in five people with Alopecia Areata also had a family member     who experienced the condition, so it may be hereditary.

- It often develops suddenly, over the course of just few days.

- There is little scientific evidence that Alopecia Areata is caused by     stress.

- People with the condition who have only few patches of hair loss       often experience a spontaneous, fully recovery without the need    for treatment.

- And lastly, there is no cure for the condition if you loss the hair          completely.

How does Alopecia occur?According to research, it occurs when White blood cells attack the cell in hair follicles, causing them to shrink and dramatically slow down hair production.

It is unknow precisely what causes the body's immune system to target hair follicles in this way.

I mentioned earlier that Alopecia Areata occur in animals too, well, the development of the condition in animals is usually the sign of an underlying disease. Some animals may be genetically predisposed to hair loss, while in some, it may be caused by hypersensitivity of nutritional factors.

Here is a photo of a Chimpanzee suffering from Alopecia Areata.

And recently, BBC  featured a lady suffering from the condition. She spoke about stigmatization and how she was able to manged it.

Importantly, never stigmatized people on what you know nothing about. Be enlightened!!!

Last week, I read an exciting and heartwarming News about a 75 year old tortise that under went a successful surgery  in Sokoto State after it was ran over by a vehicle, and got its cracked and broken.

It warmed my heart, that a group of Veterinarians from the Clinic and the Department of Surgery and Radiology,Faculty  of Veterinary  Medicine, Usmanu Danfidito University ,took it upon themselves  to reconstruct the tortise's shell.

What gladen my heart most is that Nigerians, are having a change of attitude towards Nature/Wildlife preservation and conservation.

ANAZING PLACES TO V ISIT IN NIGERIA

I told you the other day that Nigeria is blessed with amazing and beautiful tourist attractions.

Today, I am here to bring you more fantastic places you need to visit as a Nigerian or Foeigner.

This is La Camoagne Resort a Private Beach located in Lekki, Lagos state, Nigeria. It is a must visit.

This beautiful hills resulted from the crushing of rocks by a construction company 'crushed rocks'. I guess the project was abandoned after the discovery of this beautiful lake.

These Hills and Lake are located in Abuja federal Capital, Nigeria.

The beautiful Assop Falls is 70 km along Jos-Kagoro road on the top of the Jos Plateau. The Assop River supplies water which the rapids and falls use, and it feeds the natural vegetation of grasslands that extend into the gallery forests.

Assop Waterfall is a natural waterfall occurring at the bottom of the famous Hawan Kibo, a rocky uneven hill.

Records have shown that people shoot local soap operas and advertisements there.

And believe me, Still photography does not do justice to the incredible avalanche of water gushing down and one can only enjoy the scenery by a close-up look and personally exploring its beauty first hand.

You can even have a picnic there while listening to the sound of water surging down the steep valley and emptying into the water below.

NEXT WEEK IS ANOTHER WEEK TO LOOK FORWARD TO READ ABOUT MORE AMAZING PLACES IN NIGERIA. KINDLY KEEP A DATE AND ALSO DROP A COMMENT, THANKS!!

ELEPHANT WORLD DAY 2020

Every August 12 has been set aside as World Elephant Day since 2011.

Which is supported by numerous conservation agencies, the day is a time to “spread awareness, share knowledge, and provide solutions for better care and management of both captive and wild elephants,” according to the organizer’s website

Elephants have continue to face numerous challenges, including poaching, habitat loss, exploitation, abuse, and proximity to human conflict and poverty.

On this year World Elephant Day, I will share some phots of how endangered this gentel gaints are.

According to research, Elephant numbers fell dramatically in the 19th and 20th centuries, largely due to the ivory trade and habitat loss.

While some populations are now stable, poaching, human-wildlife conflict and habitat destruction continue to threaten the species.

If care is not taken, this specie will go extinct with time.
